Code Enforcement

In December, 2016, the City of Versailles established the Code Enforcement Board to utilize the authority granted to cities by KRS 65.8801 to 65.8839 to protect, promote, and improve health, safety, and welfare of the citizens residing within Versailles. The Code Enforcement Board has three members who are residents of the City and are appointed by Mayor Traugott.

Code Enforcement Board Members:

  • Babs Backer
  • Paul Pinkston
  • Cathy Weil, Chairperson

The Board has the power to enforce civil violations of City ordinances, including:

  • Overgrown Grass (greater than 12 inches tall)
  • Lack of Maintenance of Property
  • Wrecked or Junked Vehicles
  • Other nuisances as addressed in City ordinance

When necessary, the City of Versailles Code Enforcement Officer will issues citations, fines, and/or fees. The City may also incur abatement expenses. A lien will be filed against the property in connection with the enforcement of the ordinance.
